Simulation Cricket Authority: Webhostingtalk.com vs Sitepoint.com - WC Semi Final 1
Webhostingtalk.com vs Sitepoint.com
WC Semi Final 1

Today at The Padang, the World Cup witnessed, arguably, its most exciting game to date.

Batting first, Webhostingtalk.com lost Equentity - Jamie early on, but cabalstudios and joomlaguy.com responded with a partnership in excess of 65 runs, with cabalstudios going on to score 63. Mike Empuria took the wicket, thanks to a quick stumping from HAWK.

The middle order didn't do much, until Oonth and chrisanjana formed a vital partnership. Oonth scored 53, before Mike Empuria took his wicket also. The wicket keeper went on to make 42, and the tail crumbled, losing 4/5.

Chasing 221 to win, Sitepoint.com's opening stand put on over 50, before DigitaL fell for 15. Young Twig's fine run of form continued, and he made 65, a feat matched by Heman maximus.

At 2/126, Sitepoint.com seemed well in control, but the quick wickets of iTechno, Nicky and Cronweb left the team at 5/169. When Heman maximus got out, followed by bcr, they were at a vulnerable position (7/184).

HAWK steadied the ship somewhat, with 23, but departed when Sitepoint.com still needed 18 to win.

The final batsmen were Mike Empuria, who has batted in the middle order in days gone by, and khuldun, the only number 11 in an ODI to have made a half-century. While both batsmen had talent, the bowlers were on fire. Particularly Slidey, who already had 4 wickets for the game.

When some other lower order batsmen would defend, and knock the 18 runs slowly with 11 overs to spare, Mike Empuria simply got on with it, and smashed PixelManual for 13 runs off the 39th over.

Down the other end, Slidey, defending just 4 runs, tried his best, and managed 5 dot balls, before khuldun took a single. Sitepoint.com scored the winning runs off JazzFinder, and escaped with a 1 wicket victory.

Webhostingtalk.com's World Cup journey now comes to an end, while Sitepoint.com, led by today's man of the match, Mike Empuria, will meet the winner of Sunday's Semi Final, next week, in the World Cup final.
